Surface finishing turns ordinary paper boxes and paper bags into premium-looking packaging. Hot stamping, embossing and lamination are the most widely-used finishing for both rigid boxes and high-end paper bags. However, the same finishing may behave differently on boxes versus bags.
Hot Foil Stamping
Hot foil stamping adds metallic gold, silver or color metallic effects. On rigid boxes: watch out for foil cracking on crease lines. Keep artwork away from folding lines or use anti-crack foil. On paper bags: bags keep bending during daily use. Choose flexible foil to prevent foil peeling after repeated folding. Soft-touch film surface requires special foil grade for both boxes and bags.
Embossing & Debossing
Embossing raises logo or pattern for tactile feeling. Debossing presses patterns inward. For rigid boxes, thick grey board supports deep embossing effect. For paper bags, paper thickness is limited. Too-deep embossing may cause paper breakage. Keep embossing depth moderate for paper shopping bags.
Lamination: Matte, Glossy & Soft-Touch Film
Lamination protects printing artwork against scratch and water.
· Gloss lamination: bright, vivid colors, suitable for promotionalstyle boxes and bags.
· Matte lamination: classic lowgloss premium look.
· Soft-touch lamination: velvet hand feel, very popular for luxury cosmetics & gift sets.
Important note: Soft-touch film will darken printed colors both on boxes and bags. Adjust artwork brightness in advance. For EU orders, select PFAS-free lamination film.
